Debunking the Myths

Fluoride has stirred up controversy over the years due to a spread of false information regarding its safety. However, there’s no reason to fear this safe and important mineral.

Some people believe that drinking fluoridated water can cause fluorosis, a condition that occurs when a person ingests a high level of fluoride. However, the amount of fluoride added to public drinking water is a low therapeutic level, and the likelihood of this happening is low. Likewise, some believe that drinking fluoridated water is dangerous for children, when in fact, it adds a great amount of beneficial support to their young mouths. Fluoride has been shown to greatly support dental health through years of studies, and no connection between autism or cancer and this mineral has been found.
